Perhaps the deadline for getting submission advice has past, but today I would like to submit my prose poem, "The Dreams Pianists Dream." It is about trying to play piano pieces so difficult they are nearly impossible. In a way, this could be considered an ekphrastic poem about certain pieces of classical piano music, works by Balakirev and Ravel. I realize that this can make the audience a bit specific. I am looking for a publication that might be interested in this kind of work. I would prefer top-tier or near top-tier, but I am open to suggestions.

Mark Hendrickson is an emerging poet who recently relocated to the Des Moines area. His work has appeared or is forthcoming in Synkroniciti, Lothlorien Poetry Journal, Honeyguide, and Swing. Before becoming a poet, Mark worked for many years as a mental health technician in a locked psychiatric unit. He has advanced degrees in Music, Health Information Management, and Marriage & Family Therapy.
Today I am submitting my prose poetry chapbook, Summer Missions, which reflects on the lessons, mistakes, experiences, and my naiveté toward past mission experiences I had during summers in my college years.
I am looking for a publication that accepts work that can be dark, or unusual. Some of my work could be considered hybrid.
