If you want to REALLY take your typing to the next level—I’m serious here—learn how to use the Home and End keys in conjunction with Control and Shift and all four arrow keys. You can literally STOP USING YOUR MOUSE and you’ll be faster for it!!
Want to highlight a whole row of text? Shift+Home. Want to skip to the beginning of a word? Control+Arrow. Highlight one word? Same thing with shift. Play around with it. It’ll change your (writing) life.
Since it's hard to describe, I tagged you in this note so I could share a picture too. I laid it all out for you (and anyone who comes across this later):
Typing was a required class at my elementary school in the 1990s. Someone's parent or the teacher donated a bunch of those sheer, neon dishcloths that I'm pretty sure don't exist anymore, and we had to lay them over our hands while we typed "The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog" over and over again. I will never forget the smell of those dishcloths. 🤣🙈
This one is also fun to type with https://monkeytype.com/
If you wanna get really retro and pixelated with it, look up Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing - stood me in good stead for the past 20+ years 😂

Oooo okay, I'm intrigued. What is the "home" key? and "end" key?

Here's where I date myself - typing was a required class when I was in high school back in the Dark Stone Ages of the 1980s.
Great list and it looks like I've found a couple of new places to submit to.

I am indebted to my mom forever for (at least) two things: giving me braces and teaching me to touch type. It is so worth learning.
Gosh so jealous. Though I was so stubborn as a kid. I can't blame her
Pretty sure my brother is a hunt-and-peck guy for this reason LOL
Thank you so much for sharing these lists with us! FYI, Bellvue Literary Review has a $5 fee.

Congratulations! That's cool that you're learning. I taught myself in college but I still have to look when I'm reaching for the numbers key.
