I have several poem submissions that have gone past the time when publications usually respond according to the journals themselves and/or tracker stats. Would it be bad form to send a polite email inquiring about the status? I've only sent one so far to a review which explicitly states you may email after 3 months (it's been over 4 and no response to that email. :\ ). I would just like to know if there's any chance at these places or if I should move down a tier and start submitting. TIA!
I am always perplexed about which poems to send when they take 3-6, as in should they all be about X (yes, if there's a call for a theme but I mean just in general) or should they all be totally different? Should they all be in a particular form (obvs if I'm submitting to Sonnet Quarterly I'd send all sonnets) but if it's not clear...? If it looks like they only publish one from each writer, then does that change what to send them? Or are people just sending the most recent poems? How to decide what to send...
No one may be able to help here, but any recommendations for strategies for getting art out there? I have some photography and digital art I'm very fond of, but I don't know how to best go about finding them a home.
In the email "So Many People On Chill Subs It' Scary" you mentioned a Submissions Help Hotline where you can describe your story in once sentence and we’ll suggest where to submit it. Can I do that here or somewhere else?
