Most writers I know are poor, or are trying to manage work and writing. There are SO many "writers' support organizations/literary groups" online, which promise various kinds of information for writers --- but only if the writer pays for a subscription to the organization. Writers can't gauge the quality of any organization's purported help without shelling out their money. This has become a racket - one that's impossible to navigate without spending a lot of money and time. If your organization is truly worthwhile, why don't you offer a free "getting to know you" subscription for approximately a month, then require a paid subscription. If you're as great as you claim to be, you shouldn't have any problem enrolling paid members.
