Just an FYI, I submitted two pieces of work to LIMINAL SPACES MAG - they have a tip jar that is required, and the top one is 30 dollars for expedited response. Both of my works were fairly lengthy, so I paid for expedited but sent a note that they did not need to rush. I paid for expedited simply to support their work... I do that with lit mags when I can.
Both were rejected in less than a minute. I am not exaggerating, Submittable has a time stamp on the time of submission and the response, both marked at 10:51 PM.
There is no way on earth they could have even read the first sentence of either story, or my cover letter, in less than 60 seconds. No possible way.
I suspect they're phishing writers for cash.
So, yeah, I got taken for sixty bucks, okay, I can handle it. But it definitely hurts all the other magazines that ask for tips, because I am reluctant to tip any of them at any time as a result of this. And I found them through this list, so I wanted to pass it on to you.
I'll note, I also pay for the services you offer here, and I see many lit mags asking for money to rush submissions through, and I don't believe they're giving an honest accounting.
But I'd ask that you remove LIMINAL SPACES MAG from your recommendations. I can afford the sixty dollars, but there was a time as a writer when I could not afford that, and they should not be doing this to writers.
Where's the link to the spreadsheet? I clicked on the image but it didn't take me to the spreadsheet.
