71 Literary Magazines Closing for Submissions this Week
Last Chance to Submit: May 8th-15th 2023
Writing content has fallen prey to a lot of the same traps around the internet of late. Mainly, desperately trying to get attention through SEO. Because of this, many lists we’ve found have SO much detail it’s hard to just get straight to the point of whether a place fits what you’re looking for. So, we’ve made ours super streamlined with bullet points for any essential info and just one line describing the magazine. Also, there is always such a long intro! Nope, not doing that. Just a few quick things.
Please remember, we are human. Humans make mistakes. We’ve linked each magazine’s guidelines so please, if you notice any wrong info in our list, let us know and we’ll update it. The best way to help us have the most accurate data is to track your submissions online or join Sub Club.
We don’t have any limitations on which magazines are listed. Our only real requirement is, “Hey don’t be sketch.” If any magazines we list seem sketchy to you, feel free to let us know and we will consider it case by case.
How do we make these lists?
Nikita(2) updates all listings on Chill Subs.
Karina sends me a spreadsheet from that data.
I do a bunch of really tricky (boring af) stuff and convert all of the info into an easily digestible list while listening to Fairy Tale by Stephen King on audiobook.
The whole process takes 5-6 hours depending on the week.
We update the Twitter followers every month(ish) so the numbers below may be lower than they are now.
Sub Club Monthly Challenge Reminder: 30 subs in May gets you a special badge on your Chill Subs Profile for Sub Club Members. (Track using your Chill Subs tracker.
This week’s Sub Club Specials List was ‘Grilled Cheese: Magazines who spread the love! If you missed it, Sub Club Members can read it here.
*For anyone who is interested, I saw on Instagram that HAD is doing a submissions call at 10 AM ET on Tuesday, May 9th. (They posted on Instagram). The call is for comics. Thought you all might like to know, I’ll be waiting with my finger on the submit button since they close after 100 subs.
