60+ Lit Mags Closing for Submissions Soon (13 That Pay)
All the info you need to submit: Descriptions, fees, payment, genres, themes and more.
One of the reasons I like closing lists is that I tend to need some sort of pressure to submit. Like, if a magazine is closing in 6 months, I can say to myself, “Oh, I have ages, I’ll submit later.” I even write a note to myself in my Apple Notes App, so you know I’m serious.
Then, and I mean every damn time, I find that note at least 3 weeks after the magazine has closed. So, knowing a magazine is closing for subs soon means I have to get my ass in gear. You ready? Here is what we’ve got.
For each listing, I’ve hyperlinked their name to their website so just click it to be redirected. In the parenthesis is their announced closing date. Then we have what they accept, any themes they’ve got going on, their fee & payment info, and I round things out with their founding date. I like knowing the founding date of a magazine because if they’ve been around a while, it’s a good sign they’ll stick around a while. And, if they’re new and I see they’re doing a good job, it shows me the editors are serious business about creating quality. Also I write a lot of somewhat experimental stuff and newer mags tend to be more likely to be into it.
Okay! So, if you love what we’re doing here and want to support us, subscribe, share, eat cake, and all that.
Support us by taking a writing workshop with Write or Die:
Nobody likes being misunderstood, including your characters. So let Joanna Cantor help you elevate your fiction through dialogue in tomorrow’s intensive workshop.
Wtf is a zine? How do you make one? Let Lilith Noah show you how, then make one together to be published by Write or Die and shared with thousands of potential readers.
“That’s beautiful,” is well and good for commenting on a passable Christmas sweater but descriptions in writing matter. Explore the basics and master the relationship between character and emotion with Aatif Rashid this Sunday.
*Please note that magazines sometimes close early or change payment/fee policies without warning. If you catch anything like this, please comment below and I’ll update the list right away,
