34 Literary Magazines Closing by August 31st (with 10 Themed Calls)
26 with no fee, 6 that pay, with genre, response time, and theme info included.
Happy Monday! I woke up to a rejection this morning for a poem bundle I’ve been submitting. Yet again, editors said they “particularly liked” the one poem I was meh about. This same poem keeps getting “particularly liked” and I can’t grasp why. That’s part of the game though. If I can’t even figure out what makes my own poems better than any others, what hope is there!? But submitting isn’t about hope. It’s about fame and masochism, obv.
Anyway, I’ve got 34 magazines closing this week and hope you all have better luck than me with them. I’ve included genre, fee, payment, descriptions, along with any response times and fees we have.
Quick update for paid subscribers, you are entitled to access to premium features on our website (Chill Subs). And we just released a cool one I think you’d like. We’re calling it our ‘Smart(ish) Search’. It looks like this in the filters:
It’s pretty handy. It’ll search a magazine’s genres, sub-genres, descriptions, location, and eligibility requirements with any 1-5 words you toss in and give you the magazines that use those words. For example, “International fiction” or “Feminist Poetry” or “lgbtq horror.”
It’s just the start of it. We have a lot of data so if we have it search too much before optimizing out database it will get too slow. But we’re doing that soon and then we’ll be able to have it search entire magazine listings.
Hope you like it. We’re also BETA testing a load of other tools that you can request access to on the site. For now, if you’re a paid subscriber here who hasn’t claimed access to your premium services on chill subs, you can fill out this form.
Paid subscriptions are how we are able to fund the data we collect and tools we create. If you have the means to support us, you can help us out here:
Or sign up on our website. And, as always, if you are under any financial distress we are happy to comp you, just let us know.
