33 Literary Magazines from India
The start of our goal to show more love to magazines around the world.
One of my goals for 2024 is to highlight more magazines outside of North America. A lot of literary anthologies and prizes are either only for North American Magazines, or a lot more convenient for those magazines to participate in. Then, all of the lit mag rankings are based on those awards so you wind up with a lot of excellent magazines losing out on a lot of promotion simply because of where they were founded. It’s kinda messed up.
I’ve seen so many great magazines come out of India in recent years. So today, I pulled all of the ones I could find from our database to share with you. I think the future of indie lit is more global. I hope that someone starts an anthology or prize for lit mags that focuses on this soon. In the meantime, here are 33 magazines from India. If you know any more, please comment below. And if there is a region or country you’d like me to focus on next, please let me know in the comments.
Click any name to be redirected to their website. And we’ve tagged any that are currently open for submissions.

Not listed here, bur be careful of The Punch Magazine. Accepted a piece for an anthology four years ago, gave me several assurances it would be published, nothing happened.
Also well worth mentioning is The Wise Owl magazine, based in Mumbai https://www.interviewsthewiseowl.com/contributor-guidelines
