Happy Monday, friends!
We have an insanely long newsletter today with 184 submission opportunities. I don’t about you guys, but it’d probably take me a week of nothing but submitting to just submit everywhere here. Hopefully, you’ll be able to pick out some mags that catch your eye and make a solid plan for submitting along the way.
One tip I can offer is this: If you’re unsure when to submit to a call within any given reading period, go ahead and submit as soon as you hear about it or as soon as it opens (as long as they allow for simultaneous submissions). It’s a myth that editors don’t start reading submissions until the reading period is fully closed. A lot of us love to read subs as they come and will often get attached to special pieces early on.
Alright, now I’ll let you loose in this crazy sub-travaganza (okay, that came out awkward) below!

Want to show up in our success stories? Drop a quick one-line comment about a piece you’ve had published in the past week or two—like, “My story ‘Dogs on a Cold Copper Floor’ was published in The Paris Review!” Feel free to include a link. Just one line, please.

Literary fiction is generally more concerned with style and characterization, and may be paced more slowly than commercial fiction. It usually centers on a timeless, complex theme. Mainstream fiction is usually faster paced, with a stronger plot line (and more events and/or higher stakes). Characterization may not be as central to the story and the theme may be more obvious than literary fiction. The category of both of these two indicates that the book would generally appeal to a larger audience and isn't confined by the rules and structure you might see in a typical genre.”

For this contest, we invite fiction that reimagines queerness not as something to be tolerated but as a force for radical liberation. How can we still uphold joy that disrupts, kinship that defies bloodlines, and characters who love, live, and rage beyond the limits of respectability. Send us stories that riot. Stories that shimmer. Stories that refuse to shrink. We accept stories between 1000 to 4000 words. We will publish the whole story on this Instagram page. All submissions are read and marked using a blind judgement process. Stories are judged on originality, craft, emotional impact, and depth.
