I attended (and loved) a low-residency MFA program, Randolph College's (Kaveh Akbar is actually one of the instructors so it was funny to see him cited here too!). It was life changing for me, and I could never have attended a full-time one, even a fully-funded one, because of career, house, baby, family, etc etc. I'd be happy to share more but can't recommend it enough. I feel like low-res MFAs are the future, and this one was stunningly high quality (and had far more faculty of color than every other MFA program I've ever heard of). If anyone has questions please shoot. - Maggie

Leaving a lil innocuous comment here as an FSU PhD. I don't want to discourage anyone, but the MFA program here has a lot of issues and I encourage any and all applicants to talk with current students about their experiences!
