For our last list on lit mags agents like to read we talked to writers and editors who had direct experience with agents regarding pieces published in those journals.
This time, we realized we could just go and ask agents themselves. It was one of those a-ha moments that mixed with the self-doubt of…why didn’t we think of this sooner? I know, we’re like…the smartest.
It was nice to hear, when we did, that several lit mags on our previous list were recommended yet again. Yay for validation! But what was totally cool and unsolicited was that we were handed some Canadian-specific lit mags.
So, we made this list. Not everyone is looking for an agent, but we’ll do these lists periodically for those that are. Whenever we get verified information from a trusted source.
Fair warning going in: 2 are Canadian-only, 1 is US/Canadian only. Just want to make this clear because it’s a paid list and don’t want anyone signing up who won’t get the full value from it.
We’ll work on some others. In the meantime, we had Granta mentioned as a place agents read to look specifically for international writers. So here’s a freebie on them:
